In recent years companies have been focusing on moving digital and making their supply chains more visible. Globalization in business and globalized in supply chains have encouraged companies to share more data in their supply chains. This can give rise to more visibility and predictability in managing demand and supply of products and SKUs.
Hardware devices and IoT (internet of things) enable real-time track and trace of goods, equipment, and transport. These linked to cloud-based platforms enable companies to have a digital twin or digital supply chain for transference of product (data), information (, and finance.
In our smart warehouse systems, several such systems are used to monitor the efficiency and safety on the warehouse.
Ø Temperature Data loggers provide real time reporting on handheld devices
Ø Energy indicators show the efficiency metrics and consumption in different domains
Ø Access Safety Monitoring describe safety protocols in different parts of the warehouse
However, it must be stated that there needs to be a certain level of organizational maturity in processes, people, and technology to see proper benefit in from the use of digitalization. Companies must be proficient in collecting and processing data, using it to monitor key parameters, and not be oversaturated such that it leads to a decision paralysis.
